Stakeholders: Apply to attend the first Thematic Session of the United Nations General Assembly Preparatory Process for the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration

In accordance with United Nations General Assembly resolution 71/1, the "New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants," a preparatory process will soon begin for the intergovernmental negotiations of a global compact for safe, orderly and regular migration, to be adopted at an intergovernmental conference on international migration in 2018. As part of this preparatory process, the President of the General Assembly will organize a series of informal thematic sessions between April 2017 and November 2017, as well as four days of informal interactive multi-stakeholder hearings between April 2017 and June 2018, in accordance with the organizational arrangements adopted by the UN General Assembly. At the request of the Office of the President of the General Assembly, the United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN/NGLS), the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA), United Nations University (UNU) and the United Nations Global Compact, with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), are facilitating the participation of the multiple stakeholders in the informal interactive multi-stakeholder hearings and the six informal thematic sessions.
 
The special accreditation process that was open through 17 April was for organizations / institutions / entities NOT in consultative status with ECOSOC.

I.  Apply to attend the 8-9 May 2017 Thematic Session on "Human rights of all migrants" using the form below by 2 May 2017.
This thematic session will focus on the human rights of all migrants, social inclusion, cohesion, and all forms of discrimination, including racism, xenophobia and intolerance.

Individual representatives of: 1) relevant organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC, 2) organizations / institutions / entities that applied for special accreditation*, and 3) National Human Rights Institutions, may now apply to attend the first Thematic Session using the form below. *Confirmation of attendance for representatives of organizations / institutions / entities that applied for special accreditation is pending UN Member States review of the list of organizations applying for special accreditation on a non-objection basis.
