PARADOX SPORTS // GRAND TETON 2015
Sept 1-6 // Wyoming

The Tetons provide some of the most breathtaking views in the western United States. Paradox Sports and Exum Mountain Guides are teaming up to take a team of adaptive climbers on a multipitch climbing adventure up the Grand this September.

An attempt on the Grand Teton is a rigorous event and requires a certain level of physical fitness and climbing skills. The journey begins with a Multipitch Climbing Level 1 and 2 course with Exum. After passing these prerequisite classes, the team will receive directions from the guides and rely on each other through teamwork and ropework during their ascent. The result is often a sense of accomplishment and an unforgettable bond amongst the team.

The 7-mile, 5,000-foot approach to the Exum Hut, on the saddle between the Middle and Grand Teton, climbs steeply through hillsides blanketed in wildflowers and waterfalls. The hut is stocked with sleeping bags, pads, climbing gear, and cooking equipment. The team will (hopefully!) enjoy extraordinary views of three states- Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana- from the summit, then rappel and down-climb for several hours to return to the Exum Hut.

The fee for participation in this event is $400 and includes all lodging, meals, professional guiding services, and most equipment. You will be responsible for your transportation to and from the event. If you need financial assistance, please speak with staff.

Climbing the Grand Teton is a rigorous and physically demanding two-day climb.  This ascent will require carrying up to a 30lb pack, hiking up to almost 14,000 feet of elevation, and camping in a small shared shed-like hut. A pre-trip training program is strongly encouraged- including aerobic activity, hiking in altitude and weight training. We also highly recommend you check with your physician before applying for any physically demanding trip such as this one.

There is limited space on this trip. Please note this application is only step one of the process to join Paradox Sports on this trip. Submission of your application does not guarantee you will be accepted this year. We pre-screen applicants to make sure everyone is qualified. Staff will contact you to make sure your current level of physical fitness and mental wellness are a good fit at this event to get the most out of your experience and for the safety of the entire team.

Once accepted to the Paradox Grand Teton team, a gear list and agenda will be sent to you. Paradox and Exum can provide much of the gear if needed. We will check in with you periodically before the trip to make sure you are well prepared for a successful adventure.
