Please describe your journalism background, including high school and college. What roles/responsibilities have you had in your student journalism career? *

Staff and faculty will be overseeing students shooting and editing photos, video and podcasts using iPads, laptop and desktop computers (Macs and PCs), smartphones (iPhone and Android), and digital cameras (DSLRs), plus external microphones and video mounts. Please describe your familiarity and experience with these types of equipment and software. On a scale of 1 to 3 (1 = unfamiliar, 2 = somewhat familiar, 3 = highly familiar/proficient), how would you rate your ability to use iPads, DSLRs, photo software (such as Photoshop), movie editing software (iMovie, Final Cut Pro), and podcast and/or radio storytelling tools (Audacity, Hindenberg, SoundCloud)? *

We also use messaging apps (Snapchat, Viber, WhatsApp) to organize work flows and storytelling platforms (Instagram, Medium, Steller, TimelineJS) to produce content. Staff and faculty will be overseeing students in their use of social media tools, such as Twitter and Facebook, in terms of press ethics as well as technological know-how. Some of our campers come from countries where social media is either blocked or severely restricted. Please describe your familiarity and experience with social media tools. How would you approach teaching students of different skill levels and experience how to use these tools robustly but responsibly? *

Newsroom by the Bay students will be producing work on WordPress-based news website templates.
