5,000 caregivers know how hard this strike has been for the community and the patients we serve. We want to hear about your care experiences since the strike began on January 10 at Providence.
Providence was given ample notice of our strike and has claimed that everything is going fine inside their facilities but clearly they have failed to properly prepare. We are hearing stories of long wait times, negligence, and a lack of qualified staff that is lowering the standards for patient care since the strike began. Reports from inside are that replacement staff are underqualified, often distracted from their work, lack proper training, and are unfamiliar with the hospitals. Most importantly, they do not have the same level of dedication that striking frontline caregivers give to their patients. What’s worse is that Providence is paying them far more than they have even offered striking frontline caregivers.
Providence seems more inclined to spend millions on inadequate replacement staff than to make meaningful changes in their hospitals to address short staffing in a fair contract.
If you are willing, please share your story below and tell us about your recent experiences inside Providence hospitals and clinics. Our goal is to fix the problems at Providence to get our healthcare system back on track and we need Providence to take negotiations seriously and settle a fair contract.
