HOW TO APPLY for a performance time on one of our proposed stages:

Please read these directions before filling out the Performance Application.  Do not fill out any form fields with “same as last year.” Every blank must be filled in completely. Failure to do so may cause your Performance Application to be returned as incomplete, and your application may be considered late due to this delay. 

  1. Please register before January 31, 2023 in order for your performance application to be considered for Festival of the Arts 2023.
  1. A member of your performing group must be a resident of one of the following counties (Kent, Allegan, Barry, Montcalm, Newago, Ottawa, Ionia, and/or Muskegon) to perform at Festival of the Arts.
  1. Performance stage plots are an integral part of a smooth running schedule. It helps our stage managers and sound engineers expedite the setup process to help ensure maximum performance time for all performers. Please download our stage plot template by clicking the link provided on the applications landing page. Prior to applying, print the template, mark it up, scan and then upload the template when completing the online application.
  1. Provide a link to a YouTube, Vimeo or Spotify file of a recent performance for our jury to review your performance application, or attach a video or audio file.
  1. Festival of the Arts accepts both original material and non-original material for performance on our stages.
  1. If your performance is called short or canceled altogether due to weather issues, Festival of the Arts will try to reschedule where possible. We will maintain our program schedule at all times and require your set be finished at the slotted time to keep performance running.
  1. Stage hands, volunteers, and contract staff will be setting the stage with risers and appropriate sound based on your requests.
  1. Please note your genre of performance by checking the appropriate box so our jury of professionals can review your work within the category of their expertise. For example – our classical juror does not jury country western. 
  1. You will be notified by March 1, 2023 when your performance is scheduled.
  1. A $25.00 non-refundable application fee is required.
General Guidelines:
  1. No alcohol, drugs or illegal substances allowed on or at stages.
  1. No swearing or inappropriate/ behavior on stage. This is a family event with children.
  1. Only performers and group leaders are allowed backstage. Check with your stage manager if you’re unsure.
  1. Please provide gender appropriate adult supervisors for dressing tents.
  1. You are responsible for all of your property/ equipment. FOTA is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items.
  1. FOTA provides professional Audio Engineers for our entire event..
