The Excellence in Academics Award is sponsored by the Center for Inclusion. This non-renewable $500 scholarship is designed to assist an academic scholar with financial obligations. The ideal candidate for this scholarship will have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. In addition to being a stellar student, the recipient will have demonstrated one or more of the following. Engagement in student/faculty research, participation in academic organization, outstanding internship performance, academic service to others. Particular consideration will be given to students who reflect a desire to reach their greatest potential.
The Excellence in the Performing & Visual Arts Award is designed to honor a student who has made significant contributions to the BW mission of inclusion through the arts. This person may be a performer, artist or promoter who engages in the affirmation of diversity through artistic expression.
The Excellence in Athletics Award is designed to honor a student who has made significant contributions to the BW mission of inclusion through athletics or intramurals. This person may contribute to the affirmation of diversity as an athlete, student trainer, student coach or in sports communication.
The Emerging Leader Award is designed to honor a student in their first or second year at BW whose leadership and potential support the BW mission of inclusion through outstanding engagement in programming, service or participation in diverse student organizations.
The Global Citizens Award is designed to spotlight a student that embodies BW’s mission to be a "contributing, compassionate citizen of an increasingly global society". The recipient of this award understands and embraces the importance of an intercultural education and readily seeks opportunities offered through such offices as Explorations and International Student Services.
The Community Service Award is designed to highlight a student that has meaningfully contributed to the greater community through service. The recipient prioritizes the betterment of the community by making service a part of their life on an ongoing basis. They are a role model for humility and compassion, recognizing the worth of each person with whom they interact.
The Outstanding Jacket Link/BRIDGE Mentee/Mentor Award is designed to recognize a first-year participant of the program that displayed a commitment to all program activities, an interest in seeking campus resources and support, and a diligence to academic excellence. The mentor award recognizes an outstanding campus leader that goes above and beyond to assist first-year JLB students through academic, social, and personal support.
The Outstanding Campus Leader Award is designed to recognize a student who exemplifies inclusive excellence in their involvement across various areas of campus life. This student models positive behavior that serves as an example for their peers and the campus community at large. The recipient of this award embraces and celebrates diversity as demonstrated by stellar efforts in various ways including leadership, community service, intercultural engagement, academic and co-curricular contributions to inclusion at BW.
The Outstanding Graduate Student Leader Award is designed to recognize a graduate student who exemplifies inclusive excellence in their involvement across various areas of campus life. This student models positive behavior that serves as an example for their peers and the campus community at large. The recipient of this award embraces and celebrates diversity as demonstrated by stellar efforts in various ways including leadership, community service, intercultural engagement, academic and co-curricular contributions to inclusion at BW.
The Student Organization of the Year Award is designed to highlight a diversity organization that has positively distinguished its presence to the BW community through successful programming, collaborations, and promoting unity. The executive board role models positive behaviors, such as study skills, team building and effective communication that sets an example for their members and the campus at large.
The Positive Force Awards recognize BW employees who have contributed significantly to the experience of diverse students at BW. These individuals demonstrate advocacy to groups who have been historically underrepresented or marginalized and have made a lasting impact on student lives. The honorees may be employed in any capacity at BW as we recognize the potential each member of our community has to add value.
