Photo Objection Form

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Photographs of students are educational records, subject to the confidentiality provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The United States Department of Education views student photographs as educational records that may be considered “directory information”. Absent of parental/guardian objection, directory information may be disclosed without obtaining prior consent. Photographs and videos of students may be taken while they are in class or engaged in other educational-related activities and may appear in the school environment in print and digital form, including: yearbooks, school newspapers, and other publications such as community newspapers, local access channels and on the district’s website and social media accounts. Parents objecting to such uses of photographs of their child must return a written objection to their child’s school administration at the beginning of the school year.

If you have an objection to the photographing and/or videoing of your child for such purposes, please fill out the below form. Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Dr. Doug Lyons

Superintendent of Schools
