Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick signed Senate Bill 2254, “The Valor Act.” Part of this bill is the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children.  The interstate compact ensures the uniform treatment of military children transferring between school districts and states. It was developed by The Council of State Governments’ National Center for Interstate Compacts, the U.S. Department of Defense, national associations, federal and state officials, the department of education of each state, school administrators and military families.  

Because of this new bill we are required to retrieve the following information from all students attending Wakefield Public Schools.   Please read the below questions.  If you answer yes to any one of the questions please print your child’s name in the space provided and circle YES.  Please have your child return this paper to his/her homeroom teacher, if it applies to you.
