The Basic Mediation Course
37.5 CLE’s / CPE’s / CEU’s hours + 3 ethics hours

This is a 4-day (8:30am – 5:30pm) 40-hour training course offered to the general public, counselors/social workers, educators, HR staff and attorneys. This course is designed to give individuals the skills and credentials they need to serve as mediators in the State of Texas. The training focuses on practical mediation skills and covers areas of personal injury, employment, intellectual property, and multi-party conflicts, among others. This course meets the standards of the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable 40-Hour Training Standards as required by the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association. All Course materials will be provided including THE WORKBOOK-a practical and up to date reference which includes forms and the materials you need to start a practice.

The Advanced Family Mediation Course   – Prerequisite: Basic Mediation Course
30 CLE’s / CPE’s / CEU’s hours + 3 ethics hours

This is a 3-day intensive (8:00-6:00) 30-hour training fulfilling the Texas Alternative Dispute Resolution Act requirements for mediators doing family mediation and following the standards set by the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable. The sessions include family law, family dynamics, domestic violence, child development, ethical and practical considerations and finances in family cases. This course meets the standards of the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable as required by the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association. Course materials will be provided. (Bring your own Lunch)

Arbitration Class 
8.25 CLE’s/CPE’s/CEU’s hours + 1 Ethics hour

Mediators and Arbitrators of America (“MAA”) is proud to offer training services in basic arbitration. This intense one-day class focuses on the ethics and principles of basic arbitration. Emphasis is placed on the importance of communicating for arbitrator success. The importance of understanding the terms binding arbitration and non-binding arbitration and the distinction between mediation and arbitration is discussed.  Explored are the core tenets of arbitration, to include the arbitrator’s opening statement, the oath of all participants, arbitration formats and procedures, the Federal Arbitration and Texas Arbitration Acts, and the enforceability of the provisions. This training program is interactive and participatory.

The CPS Mediation Class – Prerequisite: Basic & Advanced Family Mediation Courses
7.5 CLE’s / CPE’s / CEU’s hours + 2 Ethics hours

MAA’s Institute of Mediation Training’s Child Protective Services Mediation Course is a 2 day intensive course (8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) 20 hour training specific to Mediating Child Protective Services (CPS) cases. CPS Mediation increases meaningful understanding and engagement between parties, codifies decisions regarding children and families, and expedites the process to find permanent outcomes for children.  The sessions include the complex parties of CPS mediation, understanding childhood trauma, parent dynamics, ethical issues, and the legal framework of CPS cases. This course fulfills the requirements of the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable for mediators doing court-ordered CPS mediation.  Course Materials will be provided. (Bring your own Lunch)

Fees and Terms

Class Payments are Non-Refundable.
However, if you are unable to attend a class that you have registered for, then the payment may be applied to any other upcoming class provided by MAA that you are eligible to participate in. Anyone may register for the Basic Mediation Class. You must have taken a qualified Basic Mediation class in order to attend the Advanced (Family) Mediation Class. Both the Basic and Advanced (Family) are prerequisites for the CPS and/or the Eldercare Meditation Classes. - If you have taken a prerequisite class with an institute other than MAA please be prepared to provide proof of class attendance with your diplomas that you received from each course you attended.
