Dear Parent / Legal Guardian,
The University of Plymouth (the University) is a Student Sponsor under the Points Based Immigration system, and must comply with the sponsorship duties required by the UKVI (United Kingdom Visas and Immigration).
With regards to students studying at the University or University of Plymouth International College (UPIC) who are under 18 on the day their CAS is issued, the following paragraph from Document 2: Sponsorship Duties, of the Student Sponsor Guidance applies:
Record keeping duties:
2.8 Sponsors of a child under the age of 18 must keep a copy of the letter from the child’s parents or legal guardian(s), or just one parent if that parent has sole legal responsibility for the child. This should consent to the arrangements for the child’s application, travel, reception and care arrangements in the UK. Children aged 16 and 17 have the legal right to live independently in the UK, and may make their own arrangements for accommodation, but they need the consent of their parent(s)/legal guardian to do this and to travel to the UK (if applying from overseas).
Therefore if you are the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of the prospective student, please complete the following declaration and agree to the terms and conditions on this form, to indicate that you give your permission for the student’s application, independent travel to the UK, and for them to live independently and arrange their own accommodation whilst studying at the University or UPIC, as outlined in the above paragraph.
This information will be kept securely with the student’s file. Thank you.
Please Note: the student must apply for a Student Visa NOT Child Visa
When making the Student Visa application the applicant will be required to supply a supporting consent letter, and evidence of the relationship between the student and parent(s) / legal guardian(s)
