The Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, cordially invite you to be a participant for a national incentive program EMBODI - Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence.
We will host our symposium entitled “Am I My Brother’s Keeper: Empowering Young Men of Color to Prepare Them For A Successful Future.” This event will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Flint Hill School 10409 Academic Dr. Oakton, VA. Registration begins at 8:30 am.
The goal of the symposium is to:
* Discuss and understand the plight of the minority male via in-depth conversations and a facilitated panel discussion
* Identify a group of minority males willing to help define, plan and implement a go forward
strategy and resulting programs
* Focus on ways to help prepare our minority male youth for success during their formative
educational years through college
Lunch will be provided, as we move on to the afternoon breakout sessions.
Many topics of discussion will include the following: Money management, peer pressure, domestic violence, importance of education, conflict resolution/anger management, college preparation, etc.
